Ireland player Lorcan Tucker has been ruled out of the squad due to an injury during training.
South Africa has decided to bowl in the match against Ireland but has rested their key fast bowler Lungi Ngidi.
Due to the grass on the field, South Africa entered the game with four fast bowlers and three spin bowlers. After missing the match against Afghanistan, Ottneil Bartman and Lizaad Williams will make their bowling debut, while Wiaan Mulder and Patrick Kruger will also be part of the bowling attack.
South Africa fielded their three premier spin bowlers, including left-arm spinner Bjorn Fortuin, leg-spinner Nqaba Pieters, and captain Aiden Markram, who occasionally bowls off-spin. However, their batting order was weak, as all-rounder Mulder was sent in at number 6. They included three openers in the team, with Reeza Hendricks and Ryan Rickelton opening the innings and Matthew Breetzke at number three.
Ireland batted first and was captained by Paul Stirling. Lorcan Tucker was ruled out due to injury and was replaced by Ross Adair. Ireland also focused on spin and gave Matthew Humphreys his second T20 cap, who was included alongside George Dockrell and Ben White.
Ireland are yet to register a win against South Africa in T20Is.
