Team India rewrote the history books in the third and final T20 against Bangladesh in Hyderabad on Friday. The Surya Kumar Yadav-led side posted the highest total in T20Is, with 297/6, which is also the highest total among Test-playing nations India on the night of record-breaking in Hyderabad, Sanju Samson he one resulted in a knock of 111 off just 47 balls. Samson hit 11 fours, and eight sixes, including a five-over in the 10th over, bowled by Rishad Hossain. This century was Samson's first century which he completed in just 40 balls.
India’s total of 297/6 is currently the second-best in the shortest format of the game. Nepal’s 314/3 against Mongolia in 2019 is the highest. However, India was bowled out for 278/3 by Afghanistan against Ireland, who were previously the best of the Test-playing nations.
After Surya Kumar Yadav elected to bowl, India reached 82/1 in six overs, the joint-best powerplay score for them in T20Is. India would then touch the 100-run mark in 7.1 overs, a record for them.
India was 152/1 midway through their innings, which was their personal best. India also took just 14 overs to score 200 runs the second fastest by any team in T20 format. Only South Africa is ahead of India in terms of score.
Overall, India's innings had been laced with 47 boundaries, the most by any team in the format. The Indian batsmen also smashed 22 sixes, the third most by any team in a T20 innings.
Meanwhile, Samson is the only Indian wicketkeeper to score a century in T20I cricket. His 111 was also the highest by a batsman for India against Bangladesh.
It is also currently the fastest fifty for India against Bangladesh. He reached the title by just 22 balls, which is one quicker than Rohit, now retired from T20I, who did so in 2019 at Rajkot.
Apart from this, Samson also holds the record for the third fastest century in T20 cricket history. South Africa’s David Miller and Rohit share the lead, as they can reach the milestone with just 35 balls.
In 18 of the 20 overs, the Indian team scored 10 runs or more. He now holds the record for scoring the most number of runs (more than 10 runs) in T20 cricket.
Samson and Suryakumar manufactured a 173-run organization in only 61 balls, the second-most noteworthy in T20Is. The blistering 193-run partnership between Nepal's Kushal Malla and Rohit Paudel remains the highest in the T20I format's history.
